Let’s get into it.
This morning I ran the Copenhagen Half Marathon. It poured the entire race, I was cold the entire time, trainers were soaking wet, pace felt impossible, but somehow I still managed a personal best (PB) — two minutes faster than my last half. Not the time I trained for, but still progress. And honestly? Finishing strong in the rain feels like the perfect metaphor for closing out this summer. Imperfect. Messy. But still so full of little wins worth holding onto.
Today, we’re reflecting on the last week of summer, the mini-moments we’ll actually miss, and a lesson from running 21 km in the Copenhagen rain. Think of this as your reflective Sunday reset before we step into the shift of seasons.

The Deep Dive: Mini Moments of Summer You’ll Miss
When you think about this summer, what actually defined it for you? It probably wasn’t the big flashy moments. It was the micro ones.
For me, it was:
Long runs on Madrid mornings before the city woke up.
Terrace dinners that stretched until midnight, no jacket required.
Beach days in Mallorca
The Copenhagen trip — rainy race and all.
Ordering “just one more” iced latte even when I didn’t need it.
Wander the vacant streets of Madrid in August.
These are the moments I’ll miss most when the air shifts and the evenings cool down. And I think that’s the beauty of summer, it reminds us that life is stitched together by small rituals, not big events.
Your invitation this week: pause and notice. What are the micro-moments from this summer that you’d bottle up if you could?
A Personal Reset
I could have obsessed over missing my target race pace today. I could have blamed it on taking 3 weeks off from running to heal a minor hip injury, that my head wasn’t in it, and so on. Instead, I’m chose to accept that I needed to be cautious because if the conditions, get in the mindset at the start of the race that I might now PB, knowing that I took all the right steps in training both physically and nutritionally, the way I finished were the weeks and weeks of training. And this was more clear crossing the finish line, to celebrate the PB, feeling stronger, lighter, and looking ahead to my next start line — the Rome Half Marathon.
Just like summer, sometimes progress doesn’t look how we imagined, but it’s still progress. For me it was this race and momentum with Root + Renew. (More on this next weekend.)
For you: think about one thing you did do this summer that deserves more credit than you’ve given it. That’s your personal reset — acknowledgment without judgment.
💡 The Hot Take: Summer Isn’t Over Just Yet
Yes, fall is creeping in everywhere online. But technically, we’ve got one more week. Don’t rush it. Don’t “fall forward” just yet. Wear the linen if the weather is still summering. Order the iced coffee. Keep the windows open. You’ll miss it when it’s gone. I know I will — I live for summer!
🛠 The Toolkit: How to Ease In
A few ways to savor these last days:
Golden hour walk — catch one last late sunset before evenings shift.
Summer meal — grill, salad, or anything eaten al fresco.
One more iced latte — even if it’s sweater weather, order it anyway.
Skincare ritual — hydrate + repair after months of sun, sweat, and SPF.
Journal prompt — write down 3 mini-moments you’ll miss from summer.
🌀 Micro-Moment of the Week
Crossing the finish line in Copenhagen, soaked but smiling. Sometimes resilience is just showing up, even when the conditions aren’t ideal.
🤝 A Few Extras
If you’re setting intentions for fall, try flipping the usual script: Instead of adding more, ask: What am I ready to let go of this season?
Summer was imperfect but the little moments stitched it together into something worth remembering. Here’s to savoring the last week, PBs in the rain, and fresh starts waiting in the new season.
Stay well,
Valerie
