Let’s get into it.

This week felt like a blur, didn’t it? The late-August haze, the kind where summer is technically still here but your body is already whispering “fall reset, please.”

I call this the Zone 2 season. Not quite sprinting, not fully resting, but somewhere in the sweet middle. And honestly? That middle is underrated.

August fatigue is real. Here’s how to recover 👇

The Deep Dive: The Zone 2 of Wellness

In running, Zone 2 is the steady pace that builds endurance without burning you out.

In skincare, it’s barrier repair. The boring-but-essential step that keeps everything strong.

In life, it’s giving yourself permission to go slower, not because you’re lazy, but because you’re smart.

Fast is flashy, but sustainable is powerful.

👉 This week, experiment with your own “Zone 2 reset”:

  • Trade one HIIT workout for a long walk.

  • Swap your 10-step morning routine for 3 steps you actually enjoy.

  • Cancel the non-essential plans (yes, even if it feels awkward).

Sometimes the most powerful flex is restraint.

A Personal Reset

Lately, I’ve been realizing my own life has been asking for a Zone 2 reset. With my half marathon in Copenhagen less than three weeks away, training has been intense. Work has been intense. Honestly… life has just felt intense and almost to the point where I felt like I was crashing out.

Last weekend, I finally hit pause and took a much-needed trip to Mallorca with one of my best friends. No laptop. No emails. No work messages. Just me, the sea, and the reminder that slowing down is not a weakness, it’s a requirement.

It gave me space to actually be in the present. To recharge, reset, and come back with more clarity about how I want to spend my energy. Since returning, I’ve been more intentional about where my time goes including being intentional with time for a new relationship, without the overwhelm I might’ve carried before.

Sometimes, the lesson isn’t to do more. It’s to clear enough space to let the right things in.

💡 The Hot Take: Over-Optimization is Out

If your Sunday “reset” looks like meal-prepping 18 jars of oats, reorganizing your closet by aura color, and scheduling every minute of your week… that’s not wellness. That’s unpaid labor.

Your nervous system doesn’t care about aesthetics, it cares about ease.

🛠 The End-of-August Toolkit

A toolkit is a way of grounding yourself when everything feels a little too much. It’s not about doing more — it’s about curating the few things that help you reset, recharge, and keep perspective. Think of it as your personal Zone 2: simple, supportive, and sustainable.

Here’s mine right now:

  • 🎶 Song: “August” (Taylor’s Version, obviously). For nostalgia + chill.

  • 🍵 Ritual: Iced latte + journaling on the balcony. Minimum effort, max clarity.

  • 📝 Prompt: “I intend to ___ in order to ___.” (Yes, it works. Try it.)

  • 🎧 Podcast: Two Hot Takes — lighthearted Reddit story chaos for when I need to turn my brain off.

  • 🥤 Wellness Add-In: AG1’s new Next Gen flavors, especially AGZ Sleep, which has been clutch for winding down and actually getting restorative rest.

  • 📊 Tracking Tool: WHOOP — because if I’m putting in the effort (runs, rest, recovery), I want the data to back it up.

Your turn: what would you put in your own end-of-summer reset kit? Think music, rituals, prompts, supplements, or tools that make you feel grounded. The key is to keep it minimal but meaningful.

🌀 Micro-Moment of the Week

Remember: sweating ≠ detox. Your liver does that.

So book the sauna because you love the ritual, not because you think it’s washing out last night’s espresso martinis.

🤝 A Few Extras

If you’re setting intentions for September, my framework is in the Monthly Intentions guide. Think of it as your go-to reset template.

August is basically the Sunday of summer. You don’t need to rush into September with a sprint. You just need to find your Zone 2.

I’ll be right there with you. Slow, steady, balanced.

Stay well,
Valerie
