🍂 It's the first day of fall—here are 5 wellness tips to help you stay balanced this season

Fall is officially HERE! 🍁 The air is crisp, the leaves are turning, and the days are getting shorter. While it’s a beautiful time of year, it can also throw us off balance. But don't worry, I've got you covered with these 5 wellness tips to keep you grounded and glowing all season long.

1. Embrace Seasonal Foods 🌰

Load up on root veggies, squash, and hearty greens. They’re packed with nutrients and keep you feeling satisfied. Plus, nothing says fall like a warm bowl of butternut squash soup!

2. Get Outside—Even When It’s Chilly 🧥

Fresh air is a game changer. A quick walk or jog in the brisk air can boost your mood and energy levels. Just bundle up! Some of our seasonal favorites can be found at Lululemon, Pact Apparel, Ecoalf, and Sanctuary Clothing.

3. Prioritize Sleep 😴

The shorter days can mess with your sleep schedule. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep. A consistent bedtime routine can work wonders. At Wellness Bum HQ, we're big fans of the Oura ring, which helps keep our sleep in check. Unsure about it? Check out our honest review here.

4. Stay Hydrated 💧

As the weather cools down, it’s easy to forget to drink water. Keep a water bottle handy and sip throughout the day. Hydrated skin is happy skin! Need to jazz up your water? Try some of our favorite fresh tricks here.

5. Practice Mindfulness 🧘‍♀️

Take a few minutes each day to just breathe. Whether it’s through meditation, yoga, or simply going on a walk outdoors without music or a podcast, mindfulness can help you stay centered.

These cannabis gummies keep selling out in 2024

If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That’s why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a “joint within a gummy” that’s extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body’s endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990’s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!

🌅 How to create a morning routine that works for you this fall

I used to dread mornings. The alarm would go off, and I'd hit snooze about 5 times—again and again. But everything changed one fall when I decided enough was enough. I created a morning routine that actually excited me. And it made all the difference. I’m now a morning person—6:00 A.M. club!

But, the thing is, is that my morning routine works for me. My morning routine starts the night before with getting to bed a lot earlier. To create yours and one that works with your lifestyle will require reflection and planning.

Here's how you can build your own:

  1. Start with hydration: Before anything else, drink a glass of water. It wakes up your body and sets a positive tone. Forget the lemon water woo-woo that girl social trend, these are often exaggerated health benefits.

  2. Move your body: Whether it’s yoga, a walk, a quick run, or just some stretching, get your blood flowing. It energizes you and beats the morning chill.

  3. Mindful moments: Spend 5-10 minutes meditating or journaling. Reflect on your goals or jot down what you’re grateful for. It centers your mind for the day ahead.

  4. Healthy breakfast: Fuel up with something nutritious. Think oatmeal with fruits, a pumpkin-based smoothie, or avocado toast. Your body needs good fuel to function at its best. Need some ideas? Check out our Breakfast recipes here

  5. Plan your day: Quickly outline your top three tasks. Forget about writing an endless to-do list that will leave you feeling overwhelmed. Focus on the top three tasks and two secondary tasks. Knowing what to tackle first keeps you focused and less stressed.

Remember, the key is consistency. Stick with it, tweak what doesn’t work, and watch your mornings transform.

You’ve got this! 🌟

😒 Overwhelmed and can’t focus? This is the answer…

If you have trouble meditating, sleeping or feeling anxious then you should try Muse. Unlike other meditation tools, Muse actually responds to you! It uses your own brain signals to train your mind to meditate better, be more focused and have more restful sleep. 🌞 4 simple ways to get more vitamin D as the days get shorter and darker

Vitamin D is a powerhouse for our health. It boosts our immune system, lifts our mood, and keeps our bones strong. But as fall rolls in and the days grow shorter, getting enough Vitamin D can be a challenge.

Don't worry—I've got you covered with four simple ways to keep your Vitamin D levels up:

  1. Sunlight Exposure: Spend at least 15 minutes outside each day. Aim for mid-morning or early afternoon when the sun's rays are the strongest. 🌞

  2. Vitamin D-rich Foods: Load up on foods like fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified cereals. These can provide a tasty boost to your Vitamin D intake.

  3. Supplements: If sunlight and diet aren't enough, consider a Vitamin D supplement. Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement.

  4. UV Lamps: Invest in a UV lamp or lightbox. These can mimic the sun's rays and help your body produce Vitamin D even when it's gloomy outside.

Pro Tip: Combine these methods to make them part of your daily routine. For example, enjoy a morning walk with a breakfast rich in Vitamin D, or use a UV lamp while reading your favorite book.

Stay healthy and vibrant as the days get shorter!

🏅 Trying a new sport might be the confidence boost you need—it was for me

Last month, I decided to try something totally new. Something that both excited and terrified me.

I signed up for a new wellness club here in Madrid and tried strength training classes and joined their running club. I'm not a runner. But I wanted to take up running.

I remember walking into that gym for a functional strength training class, heart pounding, palms sweaty. I was surrounded by people who looked like they knew exactly what they were doing.

But, it was the running club that terrified me. The first run I went to, I was nervous beyond belief, almost convincing myself not to go. But I pushed through the nerves. And you know what? It was one of the BEST decisions I've ever made.

Trying a new sport has so many benefits:

  • Confidence boost: There's something powerful about stepping out of your comfort zone. Every time I've gone to a GAP (glutes, core, and legs focused) or Functional Fitness class, the coach has been upping my weights as my strength and endurance increase, and I feel a surge of confidence. With Running, I've noticed my pace and speed increasing--6km no longer feels like a challenge.

  • Physical health: Running not only gets my heart racing but also has helped me increase my endurance, while the strength training classes have toned muscles I didn't even know I had. I see my body transforming and it's motivating to keep going.

  • Mental clarity: The focus and discipline required helped me clear my mind and feel more grounded.

  • Improves Mental Health: New activities stimulate your brain. They keep your mind sharp and reduce stress. Plus, they're FUN!

  • Expands Social Circles: You'll meet like-minded people, making new friends, gaining new perspectives, and experiencing new growth. This is what I've needed, especially since moving to Madrid from the US and longing to meet Spanish-speaking friends rather than expats. I mean, I moved to Spain for a reason and it wasn’t to mimic my life in the US.

So, why not give it a shot? Whether it's running, kickboxing, yoga, tennis, or even rock climbing, trying something new can be a game-changer.

Dare to step out of your comfort zone. You'll be amazed at what you can achieve.

And when you do? Share your journey with us! Let's inspire each other to live boldly and confidently.💪
